Board Certification
Thomas Lamperti, MD is double board certified in the two major national medical boards that certify surgeons to exclusively perform facial plastic surgery. These include:
- The American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery
- The American Board of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery
To attain board certification by the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery a surgeon must meet the following requirements: Following graduation from medical school, complete an accredited surgical residency-training program that provides training in facial plastic surgery. Achieved American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) board certification by the American Board of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery or the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Successfully complete an additional two-day written and oral examination focused entirely on facial plastic and reconstructive surgery. Present at least 100 facial plastic and reconstructive surgery cases for peer review for each of the previous two years.
To be board certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery a surgeon must complete one year of general surgery residency (surgical internship). Following this surgery internship a surgeon then completes four years of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery residency which includes training in nasal and sinus surgery, skin cancer surgery, facial plastic surgery, and reconstructive surgery of the head, neck and scalp. After completing residency a surgeon then must pass a comprehensive two-day written and oral examination.
Luckily I found this amazing doctor who knows what he is doing and is very easygoing and competent.
