The actress Amanda Bynes recently tweeted that she had a nose job to remove webbed skin from between her eyes. Dr. Lamperti discusses whether a rhinoplasty really would fix this and what Amanda Bynes is really referring to.

Actress Amanda Bynes recently tweeted:

"I had a nose job to remove skin that was like a webbing in between my eyes. I wasn't going to tell anyone, but I look so much prettier in my new photos that I don't want old photos used anymore.... Having surgery was the most amazing thing for my confidence!"

You can see how Bynes has some webbed skin by the inner portion of her eyes. This webbing is actually called an epicanthal fold.

There are surgical procedures that have been developed to remove the folds. However, this surgery isn't really a rhinoplasty or nose job. It's probably better thought of as eyelid surgery. In fact epicanthal folds are fairly common especially among those of Asian descent and removing them is often part of Asian blepharoplasty surgery.

Regardless, it sounds like Bynes was really bothered by the webbed appearance and feels much more self confident now that she's had the fold treated.
